: A 31-year-old painter was on Monday sentenced by a fast-track court here to three years of imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 for sexually abusing a minor girl in January 2016.
The IX Additional District Judge Court found the painter guilty under relevant sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and gave him the jail-term and imposed the fine, a press release from the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate said.
According to police, the minor girl was alone in her hut after her parents left for work.
Taking advantage of this, the painter misbehaved and sexually abused her, the police said.
The girl raised an alarm and the neighbours came to the rescue. The culprit was later arrested, they said.
