According to prosecution, on November 25, 2011, the accused, Jagaram alias Jaggu alias Jagwan (35), strangulated his wife Pinkoo Ahelwal (30) and set her on fire at his house here.
Jagaram was arrested on May 22, 2012 at Husnabad mandal headquarters.
Later, 16 witnesses were examined in the case.
Fast Track Court Judge A Prasada Raju today convicted Jagaram and sentenced him to rigorous life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000.
Jagaram belonged to Kalapahad village of Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh and had migrated to Karimnagar about 16 years back where he worked as a daily wage labourer in a mining quarry at Chigurumamidi mandal headquarters.
The couple used to have frequent quarrels over domestic issues.
