A man has been arrested for shooting to death a 20-year youth near Vijay Vihar area after a road rage, police said today.
Yogesh Bansal, alias Kake (29), has been arrested by Vijay Vihar police station for the murder of Sumit Solanki who was found lying in a pool of blood on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday by policemen patrolling near Rithala Road in Rohini area. He was taken to BSA hospital were he was declared brought dead.
"According to Sumit Solanki's brother, both of them, along with other friends, had been consuming liquor at their residence on the fateful night. After that, both of them set off on their bike to buy more liquor.
"Meanwhile, a car zipped across them. On this, the deceased asked him to chase the car. The car was found parked at Rithala Road, near K-2 block, Budh Vihar where Yogesh and his friends were standing," said a police official.
Seeing a pistol in Yogesh's hand, they tried to flee but Yogesh chased them and fired two shots at Sumit Solanki and then fled from the spot leaving behind his car, police said.
Police filed an FIR and started investigation. The car used by Yogesh was seized and after several raids, Yogesh was nabbed from his hideout today.
Yogesh allegedly disclosed to police that he had a quarrel with the deceased that night but he left the spot in his car, after which the deceased followed him along with his brother. Fearing that Solanki is coming to kill him, he opened fire at him, police said.
