Man injured; Rs 25,000 looted in highway robbery

A man was injured when a gang of robbers intercepted a tourist car, opened fire and fled with Rs 25,000 cash and mobile phones on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Shahpura, police said today.
The incident took place last night when four tourists from South India were travelling to Jaipur in the car driven by one Jitendra, following which it was suddenly intercepted by another car of four robbers who asked the tourists to roll down the window panes, they said.
As the tourists refused to open the panes, one of the accused fired and took them out of the vehicle at gun-point and looted Rs 25,000 cash and mobile phones, police said.
Jitendra, who sustained injuries, was rushed to the SMS hospital here.
According to police, it is to yet to be ascertained whether the victim received a gun shot or was hurt by the shattered glass panes, which may have been broken due to firing.
A search operation has been launched to nab the absconding accused, they added.
