The charred body of Sulu Padiami (40) was recovered from Badigata jungle near Adivasi Colony under Kalimela police station area on Monday. Though police initially suspected that it could be a handiwork of Maoists, later it was found that the five youths of Adivasi Colony killed Sulu, said A K Pradhan, the sub-inspector of Kalimela Police Station.

The five persons first made the victim to drink alcohol and then killed him before setting his body on fire, Pradhan said quoting their confession report.

The victim had earlier snatched away a bicycle from Ula Madkami, the prime accused in the incident. Unable to get back his cycle, Ula allegedly kidnapped the victim and killed him. The five were forwarded to court today, Pradhan said.
