Banu has alleged that Suresh Kurpad of Samra Productions and two others duped her husband, veteran actor Dilip Kumar of Rs 4 crore.
"Court today granted Kurpad interim protection from arrest till the next month," said prosecutor Iqbal Solkar. The hearing on the anticipatory bail plea would continue.
According to Banu's complaint with suburban Khar police, Kurpad promised her of getting sponsorships of Rs 7.41 crore for an event where Kumar's autobiography was to be launched.
But, police say no money was deposited in her account and the sponsorship certificate was fake.
The police today told the court that they had not yet decided the future course of action and the investigation was going on, so the pre-arrest bail should not be granted to Kurpad.
