Man shot at for trying to take wounded person to hospital

Two persons were shot and injured by three car-borne assailants on National Highway 24 in Masuri area here this afternoon.
According to police, the assailants attacked 50-year-old Wazid, a resident of Jamalpur area, with the intention to kill him.
When Vinod Sharma, who along with his family was passing through the area in his car, tried to take injured Wazid to nearby hospital, the unidentified assailants also fired at him.
Police said that Vinod has received bullet injury in his chest and his condition is stated to be serious.
"The incident took place this afternoon when Wazid was going towards Kavi Nagar area from Masuri on his scooter. When Wazid reached near Lal Kaun area, around three car-borne armed assailants started firing at him," said a senior police officer.

Seeing Wazid lying in a pool of blood on road, Vinod, who along with his wife was passing the through the area in his car, stopped and rushed to help him.
"As Vinod tried to take Wazid to hospital, assailants pumped a bullet into his chest and fled the spot. The duo was rushed to a nearby hospital where Vinod's condition is stated to critical," the officer said.
Police said that they were scanning the footage of CCTV installed nearby area to identify the accused, who would be arrested soon, adding that a case has been registered against unknown persons at Masuri police station.
