Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala today termed the December 22 attack by suspected Maoists on forest offices and a restaurant of KFC at Palakkad and Wayanad districts as "an act of cowardice".
Talking to reporters here, he asserted that there was no Maoist threat in the state and the recent action was by certain 'miscreants' having allegiance to these outfits.
Chennithala said these people did not have the support of any tribal organisations, general public and political parties.
Their action was to create some kind of threat and government would deal with them sternly. Maoist was not a strong group in the state, he said.
However, the government was viewing the development seriously, he said.
The living condition of tribals in the state was much better when compared to tribals in other states. Successive governments in the state had always given priority to resolve social issues of tribals and other down trodden sections, he said.
