A group of around 50 armed ultras stormed into the village in the wee hours and targeted a camp where residents from a nearby area, who had fled due to naxal menace, were rehabilitated, police officials said.
They abducted two men after threatening them. While the body of Rabi Pujari was found with his throat slit on the outskirt of the village, the fate of Nanda Galori is not known yet, they said.
Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said police personnel were sent to the site and the body of Pujari has been sent for post-mortem.
Irate villagers staged a blockade on Jeypore-Gobindpalli road for sometime, saying they had taken shelter at the camp after leaving their houses due to Maoist menace but police failed to provide them proper protection.
They demanded effective measure to ensure their safety and security.
