Indian Information Service officer E Mariappan today assumed charge as the Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) here.
The 1990 batch officer was previously Additional Director General of PIB in Hyderabad.
Mariappan will also be the Additional Press Registrar of the Registrar of Newspapers for India in Chennai Office, besides heading the Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) of the Information and Broadcast Ministry, a PIB statement said.
"Mariappan will also look after the Directorate of Publications Division (DPD) in Chennai," the statement said, adding the officer had worked in different media units including the All India Radio and Doordarshan.
