An alleged member of the Sunil Rathi gang has demanded an extortion of Rs one crore from an industrialist at Shamli town in Uttar Pradesh, police said today.
Sunil Rathi is the gangster who allegedly killed mafia don Munna Bajrangi inside Baghpat Jail on July 9.
The accused man, who identified him as a member of the Rathi gang during his phone call yesterday, also threatened to kill the industrialist's son if he failed to pay the extortion money, they said.
A case was registered against an unidentified person and a probe initiated, Circle Officer Ashok Kumar said.
According to the complaint lodged by the industrialist, the man placed a call on his number, posing as a member of the Sunil Rathi gang.
