The situation in Bundi remained normal and peaceful today, a day after markets opened after remaining closed since Monday over communal clashes in the town.

The markets opened following assurances of justified action by the administration against those involved in spoiling the communal harmony in the city.

However, as a precautionary measure, internet services, besides broadband and lease lines, have been suspended since 8 PM yesterday till further orders, officials said.

The law and order is in place and situation in Bundi city is normal with additional forces having been deployed to meet any untoward situation, Bundi SP Yogesh Yadav told.

The situation in Bundi turned tense on Sunday afternoon after some youths of a particular community raised green flag over the rooftop of old city Kotwali building, where the throne of Raja Bhav Singh is situated.

Later at night, some unidentified people pelted stones at a Ram Navmi procession while it was passing through the Tilak Chowk area.

Protesting against stone-pelting and demanding the arrest of those involved in the mischief, the trade and market unions of the city had closed their business establishments and shops till Thursday morning.

Divisional Commissioner Rohit Gupta yesterday ordered suspension of internet services and bulk SMS in the district till next order, Bundi district collector Shivangi Swarnkar said.
