Mathura: Locals protest killings-dacoity as CM tells top cop

Uttar Pradesh police today scanned CCTV footage and examined other clues in the sensational dacoity-cum-murder case here even as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked DGP Sulkhan Singh to visit the spot.
Meanwhile, the traders in Mathura protested the incident that took place yesterday and sought compensation for the affected.
The traders, on their way to the crematorium to perform the last rites of jeweller Vikas Agrawal, one of the victims, placed the dead body near Holi Gate, a busy shopping centre, and shouted slogans against the police and the administration.
A traders' body also gave a 'bandh' call to protest the crime.

"The market in Mathura would remain closed tomorrow and if there is no prompt action, it may be extended," said Sunil Agrawal of the Nagar Udyog Vyapaar Mandal.
In Lucknow, the issue was also raised by the opposition in the state Assembly as they protested what they called was worsening law and order situation in the state.

Terming the incident in Mathura a "serious" matter, Adityanath said he had instructed the police to take stern action.
The DGP will will visit Mathura tomorrow, the chief minister said during Zero Hour.
Meanwhile, in Mathura, traders termed it as a serious lapse on the part of police and demanded immediate suspension of the area's senior police officials.

The traders also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh and jobs for the kin of the deceased.
An association of jewellers also said that it would hold a protest.
General Secretary of 'Sarrafa association' Yogesh Jolly said that a 'sit-in would be staged from 8 AM to 5 PM tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Ravi Kant Garg, former minister and senior BJP leader condemned the incident and demanded stern action against police as well as hospital staff claiming they had failed to provide prompt medical aid to the injured.
A police official said that teams were scanning CCTV footage and records of criminals learnt to be active in the area.
