MCD strike: CPI(ML) slams BJP, AAP

CPI(ML) today accused BJP of "politicising" the MCD workers' strike to hide its failure ahead of civic polls in the national capital later this year, and hit out at the AAP government for "not keeping" its promise of regularising contractual sanitation workers.
"It's not difficult to see that the current impasse has more political connotations than merely financial aspects with elections in three corporations due at the end of year.
"The BJP is trying to hide its failures in municipal corporations and at the Centre through such petty politicking which is not going to yield anyway," the party said in a statement.

CPI(ML) also targeted the Arvind Kejriwal-led government, alleging that it did not keep it poll promise of regularising Delhi's contractual employees on priority.
"Had it done so, the ongoing discourse in Delhi's politics would have been quite different today," the Left party said and expressed its solidarity with the striking workers.
The current impasse must be resolved by all sides, including the Centre, Delhi Government and all three municipal corporations, keeping the interest of people in the national capital in mind whose daily life has taken a hit, it said.
The indefinite strike called by around 60,000 sanitation workers attached to three civic bodies over demands of timely payment of salaries and arrears entered eighth day today, resulting in waste disposal issues in the national capital.
