The woman identified as Neena Rawal, a resident of Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh, was detained and questioned at the Parliament Street police station before she was taken for a medical check-up.
The incident took place around 2:10 PM when Modi's convoy was leaving South Block.
The woman was part of the crowd which was asked to move away and assemble at a pavement near Vijay Chowk as PM's convoy was to pass through the area. She became furious when police told her to move further aside, DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal.
Police later claimed that the women was schizophrenic and undergoing treatment for the past one year.
Rawal was whisked away from the spot immediately after the incident and questioned.
During her questioning, she told the police that some people had torn her marksheet and harassed her at her native place. She said she had lodged a complaint there but the police took no action.
However, when records were checked her claims turned out to be false. When she was asked whether she knew about whose convoy was going to pass through the route, she said she had no idea.
She took a metro train from Ghaziabad and arrived in Delhi this morning. When asked what was her purpose of visit, she couldn't give a clear answer, the official said.
"We are examining the matter. The woman's statement has been recorded and she has been taken for a medical examination," Narwal added.
