Arunachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister Bamang Felix Friday urged the media fraternity of the state to be agent for bridging the gap between the people and the government for overall development.

"Today all are talking about their rights including politicians but not about their responsibilities. If this trend continues, how Arunachal will develop?" Felix wondered while addressing the National Press Day celebration here.

He said, media has greater responsibility than ministers and MLAs to lead the society in the right direction.

"Who will bridge the gap of transition? It is only media who can do this to take the state ahead," Felix said.

The minister said the state government is trying its best to support the press fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh and accordingly increased the amount of Journalist Corpus Fund to Rs two crore from existing one crore besides allocating an amount of Rs five crore alongwith plot of land for construction of the Press Club building.

"Chief Minister Pema Khandu has already accorded administrative approval to recruit district information and public relation officers (DIPROs) and Press Relation Officers (PROs) from now onwards with mass communication background," Felix said.

Referring to the topic of this years celebration Newspaper in Arunachal is an obsolete form of media, Felix called upon the journalists, especially from the print media to thrive to make newspaper an absolute form of media in the state.

In his keynote address, Editor-in-Chief of Eastmojo, Karma Palijor called upon the scribes to wage a war against fake news.

Referring to very less space North East is getting in national media, Palijor said, "We have to train ourselves to do our own stories and to let people know what North East is actually is."
