Meeting with govt positive: JCILPS

The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has reached an agreement with the government of Manipur in a meeting held here today.
The JCILPS which is spearheading the movement for implementation of inner line permit system in Manipur had a joint meeting with the government of Manipur at chief ministers secretariat hall.
Speaking to the media soon after the meeting, Kh Ratan, convenor (in charge) of JCILPS said that today's meeting with the government was positive.
The government has agreed to include the five major points raised by JCILPS to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people of Manipur in the draft Bill, he said.
After the convention, JCILPS will put forward the resolutions to the government of Manipur later in the evening, Ratan said.
A joint statement signed by M Yaiskul Meitei, Special secretary (HOme) government of Manipur and Kh Ratan convener (in charge) JCILPS, was also handed out to the media after the meeting.
According to the statement, the meeting jointly agreed in principle for inclusion of the five major demands of JCILPS regarding protection of rights of indigenous people.
To a question regarding the body of Sapam Robinhood still lying at the morgue of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, who was killed in police action on July 8 last during the agitation for implementation of ILPS, Ratan said the mater was not discussed in today's meeting.
The meeting was attended by chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, his cabinet members along with top officials of the government of Manipur.
