The 57-year-old actress' new role will mark her first series regular status since 'Twins' ended in 2006, reported Deadline.
Previously titled The Brainy Bunch, based on the book of the same name by Kip and Mona Lisa Harding, the comedy pilot follows Kip Mitchell and his wife, Mona Lisa, as they reach the conclusion that that they may have raised their children to be too smart.
Griffith will play Celeste, a former pageant queen and Mona Lisa's mother, who invites her daughter's family to live with her.
Most recently, Griffith made a special appearance on 'Saturday Night Live' alongside ex-husband Don Johnson in the episode hosted by her daughter, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star Dakota Johnson.
