The Border Security Force (BSF) today detained a 'mentally unstable man' from Pakistan who crossed the border near Vighakot in Gujarat's Kutch district, officials said.
"A mentally unstable man from Pakistan, aged around 40, was caught from Vighakot in Khavda village of Bhuj tehsil after he crossed the border," V S Sirohi, Assistant Commander of BSF, Gujarat Frontier, told PTI.
According to BSF officials, the man is mentally unstable and could only utter his name as Shokat.
The BSF personnel deployed at Vighakot near border piller number 1170 found the man with torn cloth today. He failed to provide his identity proof when they asked for it, said the official.
Later, the BSF personnel came to know from his behaviour that he was mentally unstable, he said.
BSF has been trying to seek details about his native in Pakistan, he added.
This is the third incident where a Pakistani national has been held by the Indian force in Gujarat in last 15 days, the officer said.
On July 24, a 23-year-old youth from Islamabad in Pakistan, identified as Mahammad Farhanbasha Abubakar, was detained from a mosque in Bhuj town of Kutch.
Earlier on July 20, a Pakistani national, named Himmat Gul Hussain (40), who appeared to be mentally unstable, was held by BSF along the border near Khavda in Kutch district.
