Mentha oil prices fell 1.48 per cent to Rs 686.40 kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced positions amid sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market against adequate stocks position on increased arrivals.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September fell by Rs 10.30, or 1.48 per cent, to Rs 686.40 per kg in a business turnover of 387 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in October traded lower by Rs 10.20, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 698.80 per kg in 53 lots.
Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators, tracking a weak trend at spot market, following subdued demand from consuming industries, mainly kept pressure on mentha oil prices at futures trade.
