Mercury hovers below 40 C mark in Haryana, Punjab

The maximum temperatures across Haryana and Punjab today hovered below the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a high of 36.8 degrees Celsius.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius, which was within the normal level, the MeT Department said here.
Meanwhile, Karnal registered a high of 37 degrees Celsius while Narnaul also recorded a near maximum of 37.5 degrees Celsius.
However, Hisar braved a hot day at 39.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal level.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperatures of Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 37.2 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius respectively.
