Mercury rises in lower Himachal, Una records 42.6 degrees

Mercury in the lower reaches of Himachal Pradesh took an upward trend today, where Una on the Shivalik foothills recorded a maximum of 42.6 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature stayed four to six notches above normal across the state, Met officials said.
While Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a high of 38.4 and 36.5 degrees, mercury in capital Shimla stood five notches above normal at 28.0 degrees Celsius.
Day temperature in Nahan was recorded at 34.7 degrees, Solan 33.5 degrees and Dharamsala 32.8 degrees, while Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district recorded a high of 24.8 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather during the next four days, with a marginal rise in mercury.

Meanwhile with an increase in temperature during past three days, summer tourism has picked up pace as a large number of toruists are thronging key tourist destinations of Shimla, Manali, Dharamsala, Chail, Dalhousie, Palampur and Kasauli.
