The mercury in Srinagar, went up by over two notches from the previous night's low of minus 3 degrees Celsius to minus 0.6 degrees Celsius, a MeT official said.
The night temperature in Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, increased to minus 1 degrees Celsius from the previous night's low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius.
The north Kashmir town of Kupwara recorded a low of minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, the official said, adding Kokernag town in south Kashmir, registered a low of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam in south, which serves as the base camp for Amarnath yatra, recorded a low of minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, an increase of nearly five notches from the previous night's minus 5.1 degrees Celsius, he said.
The minimum temperature in Kargil town of Ladakh region recorded a low of minus 9.4 degrees Celsius, an improvement of over three degrees from the previous night's minus 12.6 degrees Celsius.
The nearby Leh town, which was the coldest recorded place in Jammu and Kashmir, registered a low of minus 9.9 degrees Celsius as against yesterday's minus 11.7 degrees Celsius.
