The parents of the students alleged that this was the second time that Mirambika students have been shifted in the last three months.
On April 14, the children were locked out of their school without prior notice or explanation and were relocated in the adjoining Aurobindo ashram premises.
The children were moved to "clear the way for AICTE approval" of the Engineering College that Sri Aurobindo Education Society (SAES) was constructing on Mirambika school grounds.
The parents of the students had filed a writ petition with the Delhi High Court protesting the move and demanded that their children be moved back to the original school building. The High Court on May 6 ordered a stay on the Engineering College and set the next hearing date for July 3.
According to the parents, the children were illegally moved despite the matter being subjudice and the next hearing date only days away.
We were shocked to find our children on what was still construction site, located illegally above a shopping arcade and lacking necessary DoE and other approvals.
Meanwhile, in another development, Delhi Development Authority has issued a show-cause notice to SAES questioning the latter's decision to construct an Engineering College on the 9.84 acres of land Mirambika originally occupied (before its 14 April move) in violation of the lease deed SAES had signed with the DDA in 1984.
