Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today said the state government decided not to establish a paper mill as it was found to be unprofitable.
Addressing the IKEA workshop on Possible Sourcing of Bamboo Products from Mizoram, Lal Thanhawla said the government has been looking for the maximum utilisation of the state's rich bamboo resources.
He said working together with the IKEA, the home furnishing giant, would be significant for harnessing bamboo resources.
The lone Rajya Sabha member Ronald Sapa Tlau said 35 per cent of the country's bamboo are in Mizoram.
He also expressed hope that the investment by IKEA would usher in the much needed market linkage for the bamboo products.
