Modi govt pursuing foreign policy envisaged by Deendayal

The Narendra Modi government at the Centre is pursuing an "India-centric" foreign policy envisaged by BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya, party general secretary Murli Dhar Rao today said.
"His view on foreign policy was clear... That it should be India-centric," he said at a function organised by the party to mark Upadhyaya's birth centenary year.
"Today, the Narendra Modi government is following the policy framed by Upadhyaya," Rao said.
Upadhyaya believed that we should have an "India First Approach" and adopt a foreign policy suitable for development and security of the country instead of following Russia, America or China, he said.

His vision of unitary humanism and "antyodaya" were relevant not only for India but the whole world, the BJP leader said.
Union minister Mahesh Chandra Sharma credited Upadhyaya with giving the country a strong opposition in post- Independence India in the form of Jansangh that later transformed into BJP.
BJP general secretary (organisation) Ramlal described Upadhyaya as a visionary who not only understood the thoughts of ancient thinkers but also fully understood the aspirations of the new generation.
A booklet titled "Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Sankshipt Jeevan Parichaye - Vichar-Sansmaran" was also released at the programme.
