After bidding goodbye to Gujarat,
Narendra Modi reached the national capital, four days ahead of taking over as the Prime Minister.
He is expected to have meetings with senior party leaders over the next three days to discuss government formation and list of guests for the swearing-in ceremony that will take place on May 26.
The BJP leader, who led his party to a landmark victory in the Lok Sabha elections, was appointed as the Prime Minister on Tuesday by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 13 years bid goodbye to his home state as he left for Delhi. He also met his mother Hiraba and took her blessings for the new assignment.
"Gujarat is our family. When I am leaving for Delhi, as per our tradition, I would like to say 'Aavjo' (goodbye) to 6.25 crore people ...'Aavjo Gujarat (goodbye Gujarat)," Modi said at the Ahmedabad airport before emplaning for Delhi.
He completed all his tasks in Gujarat like resigning from the post of the Chief Minister and handing over the baton to Anandiben Patel yesterday.
