The JD(U) today slammed Narendra Modi alleging that his two visits to Bihar in a week was to disrupt peace and communal harmony in the state and also aimed at deriving political mileage out of the recent serial blasts.

"It was an outright attempt to vitiate peace and communal harmony in Bihar," JD(U) state unit chief Vashistha Narayan Singh told reporters while replying to a question on his party's take on Modi's visits to the state.

Refusing to buy the BJP's arguments that Modi's visit was on humanitarian ground to console the kins of the victims of the serial blasts, he said anybody could make out its political significance.

If Modi had been so sincere about the tears of the victims, then he should have met the families of those killed in a number of such incidents in his own state, Singh said.

Taking exception to large number of Gujarat Police officers accompanying Modi during his second visit to Bihar apparently for security reasons, the JD(U) leader said it infringed upon federal structure of the country when police of another state takes law and order matters in their own hands.

On Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's remarks that people should use brooms to remove muck coming from outside, which was apparently aimed at his Gujarat counterpart, Singh said Kumar's comments should not be blown out of proportion as people remove dirt from their houses during Diwali.

However, when asked about his comments on Central security agencies apprehending terror threat to Modi, he said the Gujarat Chief Minister should be provided elaborate security wherever he goes.

On JD(U) delaying decision on a political alignment at the national level in the run up to the general elections, Singh said the party's Rajgir conclave was not aimed at working out an alliance and as of now the party will contest the parliamentary elections on its own.

"At the same time, we are open on various option," he said.

Meanwhile, dozens of eminent people from Kayastha community joined the JD(U) in presence of Singh and another senior leader, R C P Singh.
