Monitoring situation: EAM on reports of attacks on Indian

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said today that she was personally monitoring the situation in the wake of reports of attacks on Indian students in the Italian city of Milan.
"Attack on Indian students in Milan: I have got the detailed report. Please do not worry. I am monitoring the situation personally," Swaraj tweeted.
Swaraj also said that she has spoken to a victim.
"He has told me that this was a case of robbery and not a racial attack," she said, while appreciating the Indian Consulate in Milan for providing all help.
The Indian Consulate in Milan said it has received reports of unfortunate incident of attacks on the Indian students and the matter was being taken up with the "highest level" of law and order authorities in the city.
In a post on Twitter, the Consulate also asked the Indian students to report any such incident to it immediately.
"The Consulate has received reports of unfortunate incident of attacks on the Indian students in Milan. All Indian students are urged not to panic," it said.
The Consulate also issued a helpline number.
"Students are advised to be in touch with each other (particularly when they go out) as well as with the Consulate and spread the information among other students about the areas where they face such incidents," the Consulate said.
