Monsoon active over parts of North India

The capital Delhi did not get any rains, but the maximum temperature at 36.2 degrees celsius was just one mark above normal and the minimum at 26.6 degrees celsius was at the usual level.

The city recorded a high humidity level of 58-91 per cent.

Monsoon was normal over Uttar Pradesh with several places receiving rains between 3 cm to 7 cm.

The places in the state which received rains were Kasganj, Basti, Misrikh, Agra, Mathura, Pallia Kalan, Karvi, Fatehgarh, Elgin bridge, Zamania, Akbarpur, Bindaki, Rai bareli, Fatehpur, Lalganj, Jalesar, Narora and Sikohabad.

The met office has forecast moderate to heavy rains at many places across the state.

Meanwhile in Punjab and Haryana, dry weather prevailed at most places yesterday in the absence of rainfall with the maximum temperature hovering 2 to 3 notches above normal.

Amritsar was the hottest place in the two states recording a high of 39.2 degree Celsius, two marks above normal, the MeT said.

Ludhiana also had a hot and humid day at 37 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal, while the maximum in Patiala settled at 37.5 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.

The monsoon hit most parts of Punjab and Haryana, including Chandigarh, on Friday.

The MeT had forecast light to moderate rain/ thundershowers at a few places in the two states during the next two days.
