Ansari made the remarks while launching a book 'Awaken the Magic' at his residence on the occasion of International Women's Day yesterday.
"There is a lot more work to be done here," he said while speaking on challenging the patriarchal mindset.
Vice President's wife Salma Ansari, who has written the book's foreword and has been instrumental in its making, was also present on the occasion.
She said that when it comes to the empowerment of Indian women, the time for talk was over, and "it is now time for action".
The vice president spoke about the need for the book to be translated in as many Indian languages as possible, "so that we carry these voices and make a meaningful impact at the grassroots level".
