More than 31,300 voters to exercise franchise on Nov 19

The bye election from Nellithope Assembly segment in Puducherry to fill vacancy caused by resignation of ruling Congress legislator A John Kumar will be held on November 19.
Announcing the poll schedule finalised by Election, Chief Electoral Officer of Puducherry V Candavelou said that the Nellithope Assembly constituency has as many as 31,366 voters, of whom 16,418 are women.
He said that with the announcement of poll schedule the Model Code of Conduct came into force immediately today in the entire Puducherry district.
He said that the filing of nominations for the bye election will commence on October 26. While the last date to file nominations is November two and the scrutiny of papers will be take place the next day. The last date to withdraw candidatures is November five.

He said that the counting of votes will be held on November 22 and the poll process should be completed before November 24.
