BJP's Sanju Solanki, a mother of quadruplets, is all set to become the Ward 5 Councillor in the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation.
Solanki's victory is almost sealed after the nominations of her rivals, Tara Bhati of Congress, and Tara Parihar, an independent, were rejected.
The nomination of Bhati was rejected on the ground that she had more than two children whereas the nomination of Parihar was rejected for incomplete documents, an election official said.
"But she (Solanki) was considered eligible despite having four issues (children) considering all of them to be a single unit as all the four were born out of single delivery," the official said.
This has left her with no competitor to take on, thereby clearing her way for the seat of Councillor from Ward 5 unopposed and undisputed.
"I had all these children born in a single delivery. So the rule of disqualification for having more than two children did not apply on me," said an ecstatic Solanki, who is pursuing PhD.
She said the birthday of her children on November 22 will be different this year and would add more zest and zing to otherwise routine celebrations.
All her kids Poorvaja, Piyush, Poorvi and Pujita were born on November 22, 2008.
Her husband Vijay Solanki, an assistant lab technician at Ground water department, said that what happened was the blessing in disguise.
"We had never expected that getting the ward seat would come this way," he said.
Talking about his children, he recalled that it was a a very difficult time.
"It was a challenge to handle the birth of four children together. I took off from my office for 3 months to look after the infants and comfort my wife," he said.
Having accepted felicitations from party leaders and near-dear ones, instead of sitting idle waiting to be declared winner on November 22, Sanju has engaged herself in campaigning for fellow candidates of BJP.
