Lokayukta Police today uncovered details of nearly two dozen properties worth at least Rs 60-70 crore possessed by a senior Revenue Department officer, who is suspected to have acquired them through corrupt means.
The case came to light when personnel of the anti- corruption watchdog raided the residence of Ravikant Dwivedi, a Joint Commissioner in Revenue Department, here.
"We have so far seized documents related to 24-25 properties possessed by him and his family members. The properties include plots, houses, agriculture land and hostels among others," Siddharth Choudhary, Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta), told reporters.
Though the real value of these assets is yet to be ascertained, Lokayukta sources said it must be more than Rs 60-70 crore as per initial estimates and this is hugely disproportionate to Dwivedi's known sources of income.
The raid was conducted at Dwivedi's residence in Gulmohar Colony area following a tip-off. Details of 10 bank accounts, bank lockers and investment in insurance companies were also recovered during the operation.
A printing press, a flyash brick factory and a hotel were also found to be owned by the Dwivedi family, the sources said.
Dwivedi joined the Government service as Deputy Collector in 1987 and was posted at various places in the State.
