"Only a tribal Chief Minister can understand the problems of the STs and will take steps to solve them," BJP Tribal Cell's National Vice President, Yashwant Darbar, said at a function here yesterday.
In 1980, the late Shivbhanu Singh Solanki, a senior Congress leader who was from a tribal community, missed the opportunity as the Congress leadership ultimately encouraged Arjun Singh for the CM's post, he said.
Congress MLAs Bala Bachchan and Panchilal Medha, and Khargone district Congress president Jhuma Solanki, who were present at the function, echoed the sentiment.
