Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president B Satyanarayana today said the agitating Congress MPs from Telangana at Parliament gate in New Delhi were voicing the demand of the people in their region.
"They are expressing the feelings of the people in their constituencies," Satyanarayana told reporters here while replying to a query on the sit-in being held by few Congress MPs from Telangana at Parliament gate.
Telangana is a sensitive issue and the Centre would take a decision on the matter in the interest of all, he said.
Five Congress MPs from Telangana launched a 48-hour sit-in yesterday at the main gate of Parliament against non-fulfilment of the promise by UPA government to create a separate state out of Andhra Pradesh.
The MPs carried placards which read - "Give Telangana and Save Democracy".
Disapproving thee continuing protest of TRS against allotment of iron ore mines in Telangana region to the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP), a Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) enterprise, Satyanarayana said, "RINL is a national asset. It does not belong to any region or anybody."
He, however, supported the demand for setting up a steel plant in Telangana region.
The TRS had recently opposed the allotment of mines to the VSP, alleging that Telangana's mineral wealth is being "given away" to VSP, which is situated in the coastal Andhra region.
Satyanarayana, who is in Karnataka recently, observed that the electorate in Karnataka are rejecting corrupt parties and claimed that a similar fate awaited the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh.
