A day after resigning from the Trinamool Congress, Mukul Roy today gave strong indications that he would not form a new party in West Bengal, contending that his vast political experience could be utilised by any party including the BJP.
Roy, who has been cozying up to BJP leaders for some time now, admitted that he was in constant touch with them.
"I believe that any good leader of political potential can help any party get good results," Roy told PTI here.
Speaking about his vast experience in state and national politics, Roy said that "apart from Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, there is no one in TMC" who could match his knowledge of every booth in West Bengal.
Roy was the chief election manager of the TMC and the right-hand man of Banerjee in poll planning till he fell out with her recently.
He said he would announce his future plan after Diwali.
Roy said he would go to the Election Commission tomorrow to request it to ensure free and fair elections in the upcoming bypoll to two assembly and one Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal.
"I always had a very close connection with the Election Commission. I feel that it is very difficult to hold free and fair elections in West Bengal without the help of the commission," Roy said.
