AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal today launched a sharp attack on Narendra Modi, saying there was no trace of a "wave" in favour of the BJP's PM hopeful and also took on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul during his visit to the city where he travelled by train and auto amid chaos and vandalism and trouble for commuters.
The former Delhi Chief Minister had an eventful day in Mumbai, where he hopped into an autorickshaw after landing at the airport and then into a suburban train perhaps to get a feel of the daily life of "aam aadmi" in the metropolis.
However, his tour was marked by chaos and vandalism amid complaints of discomfort to commuters. Workers of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were accused of vandalising station property at Churchgate where Kejriwal rode by a train from Andheri.
A contingent of police personnel, media persons and AAP activists trailed the autorickshaw over the entire five-km distance till Kejriwal alighted near Andheri station to take a train to Churchgate in South Mumbai.
Later in the evening, Kejriwal addressed a rally in suburban Vikhroli where he launched a broadside against top leaders of Congress, BJP and also targeted industrialist Mukesh Ambani. He did not spare the media too.
"For the last one year, I have been hearing there is a Modi wave in the country. I went to Haryana I could not see Modi wave...I went to UP but could not see any wave. Today, I have come to Mumbai, here too I could not see Modi wave," the bureaucrat-turned-activist-turned politician said.
"Yes, a wave is there. But the wave is of anger among people. We don't want to bring BJP by ousting Congress. People want to change the system. People have decided to bring honest politics in the country. People see a ray of hope in AAP," he said.
People have made up their mind to defeat Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Narendra Modi, Kapil Sibal, Nitin Gadkari and BS Yedyurappa," Kejriwal claimed.
Continuing his attack on the Gujarat Chief Minister, the AAP leader charged 800 farmers have committed suicide in the state under Modi's watch. Also, 60,000 small-scale industries have shut down in Gujarat in the last 12 years of his rule.
He criticised a section of the media for forecasting dismal performance by his fledgling outfit in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "Some channels had said Aam Aadmi party will get 4 to 5 assembly seats in Delhi but we got 28 seats."
Targeting Ambani, Kejriwal said "nobody had the guts to touch Ambani, but we got an FIR registered against him (on gas pricing issue)," he said.
