Manushree Patil of Mumbai and Siddhesh Pande of adjoining Thane have been selected to represent India at the South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship to be played from July 15 in Pakistan.
The duo's selection for the three-day meet in Karachi has been made by the Table Tennis Federation of India.
Manushree and Siddesh, who will participate in the Junior Boys and Junior Girls categories, were chosen on the basis of their performance in the National Ranking tournaments held throughout the year, a media release said.
Manushree has had a good run recently as she reached the semi-finals of the North Zone National Ranking Tournament and also played an important role in her team Supreme Fighters winning the iProspect Mumbai Super League which concluded on Sunday.
Siddhesh was one of the three Indians who had the opportunity to represent the country at the ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals held at Indore in January.
Each participating country will send 10 players - six in juniors (three boys, three girls) and four (two boys, two girls) in cadet categories.
The finalists in each category will qualify for the Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship.
The competition includes cadet boys and girls team events, juniors boys and girls team events, cadet boys and girls singles, juniors boys and girls singles and juniors boys and girls doubles. There will be no doubles for cadets.
