Contractual employees of Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation today staged a protest at the civic body's head office demanding that their salaries be revised as per government orders and board proposal.
Sanitation Employees' Union leader Kiran Pal Sagotey said that 2,300 employees were recruited on contractual basis on the orders of the state government and municipal council board.
These employees were paid Rs 7,500 per month while state government had asked the corporation to pay them Rs 14,500, he said.
Loni, Hapur and Modinagar municipalities are paying revised salaries to their employees, he further said.
Sagotey warned of halting the sanitation work in the city if the GMC did not implement the government orders.
