Murder accused escapes from police custody

The accused Lakhan Yadav was arrested from Gaura village in connection with the murder case of one Pramod Yadav yesterday and admitted to the Sadar hospital after complaining of illness but he dodged the escort party and escaped from there late last night, Lakshmipur police station's Station House Officer (SHO) Kailash Singh said.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, he said.

Yadav, a native of Chedlahi village was beheaded by the accused and his associates three months ago and dumped the former's body in neighbouring Gaura village, Singh said.

The victim's father had lodged a named FIR against the accused persons, including Lakhan, charging them with the murder of his son, the police officer said.
