Navi Mumbai police officials said that Sujit Nyayanirgune was one of those convicted in the murder of Airoli-resident Deepak Patil on January 04, 2011 at Kalwa, near Vitawa bridge.
He was arrested by the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Navi Mumbai on Wednesday after the AEC got a tip-off that the Nyayanirgune would come to Airoli.
Police said that Nyayanirgune alias Batrya, 35, after his conviction in the murder case was lodged as prisoner number 9585 at Nagpur central jail.
Police said that Nyayanirgune did not return on July 20 at the end of his parole term.
Jail officials filed an offence under section 224 of the IPC with the Palus police station at Sangli after he failed to come back at the end of his parole term, police said.
Navi Mumbai police said that the convict has been handed over to Sangli police.
