Murder of 75-yr-old woman: 4 including juvenile in police net

Three persons, including the great grandson of the victim, have been arrested and a juvenile apprehended in connection with the murder of a 75-year-old woman in east Delhi's Trilokpuri area, police said today.
Deepak, the great grandson of the victim, Harish and Ram Dayal were arrested and the juvenile apprehended last night and four gold kadas, a goldchain, a pair of earrings and other articles, including silver coins and coins worth approximately Rs 8,000, and some personal documents of the deceased were recovered, said a senior police officer.
Deepak knew that the victim, who was allegedly into illicit liquor trade, had jewellery and money kept at her house, he added.

Deepak and the juvenile attempted to commit a robbery in the house of the woman, but she raised an alarm, said DCP (East) Omvir Singh.
Fearing that they will get caught, the duo overpowered the woman and killed her by strangulating and slitting her throat, he added.
The two then contacted their associates, Harish and Ram Dayal, to dispose of the jewellery.

Since the victim was staying alone, there was no eyewitness to the murder. Her differently-abled son was visiting a relative in Coimbatore while her married daughter lived nearby, police said.
The house was found ransacked and valuables were suspected to be missing, they added.

Acting on a tip-off, Deepak and the juvenile were nabbed and some of the articles missing from the house of the victim were recovered from their possession, police said.
The duo led the police to Harish and Ram Dayal and the stolen jewellery was recovered from their possession, said the DCP.
