Members of the Muslim community today protested against the reported "derogatory remarks" by a Hindu Mahasabha activist.
Thousands of Muslims under the banner of 'Ittehad-e-Millat' led by Maulana Khalid, closed their business here and demonstrated against Hindu Mahasabha activist Kamlesh Tiwari.
Tiwari's comments against the minority community recently sparked angry reactions from the people. Many minority groups had protested against the activist in several areas in the state.
Meanwhile, no untoward incident was reported, police said.
The security has been tightened in the district.
