"My Byomkesh, who is smarter and agile, is also far more human than other portrayals. He cries, he agonises, he exults and he feels down," Anjan said.
Satyajit Ray had made a film "Chiriakhana" based on the same book on Byomkesh in 1967.
"I have made changes in the film where Manikbabu (Ray) did not," he said.
Saswata Chatterjee plays the role of the popular detective's friend and assistant Ajit on big screen and the fifth film in the series.
"Naturally the present 'Chiriakhana' by Anjan Dutta has more technical polish and flourish. Besides, two persons' way of thinking is different," Saswata said to point out the difference between the two films.
The actor said it is very important for two co-stars to compliment each other.
"A scene will be dead if the actors are intent on eating up each other. Rather they should complement each other and that's what I and Jisshu Sengupta (Byomkesh) and others did.
"Tuning is a must between an actor and his co-actor and Ajit and Byomkesh always complement each other in the books."
Music director Neel Dutt, who is composing music in the series, said unlike the 60s' Hollywood genre of tunes in previous Byomkesh films, "Byomkesh O Chiriakhana" has largely drawn on Indian instruments like sitar.
Three hyped films - his 'Byomkesh O Chiriakhana', Srijit Mukherjee's 'Zulfiqar' and Sujan Neel Mukherjee's 'Chocolate' - will release during the Durga Puja.
However, Anjan said it will not harm the box office collections of all the films.
