NAC has spent Rs 5.54 cr since its inception: Govt

Of Rs 3.77 crore budgeted for 2011-12, the NAC spent Rs 1.7 crore, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme implementation Srikant Kumar Jena said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

NAC has spent Rs 5.54 crore in the last seven financial years, he added.

The Council has been constituted to provide inputs in the formulation of policy by the government and to provide support to the government in its legislative business, he said.

In 2010-11, the expenditure of NAC was Rs 1.39 crore against budgeted Rs 4.74 crore, he added.

The Council has 12 other members, including agriculture scientist M S Swaminathan, social activists Harsh Mander and Aruna Roy. PTI DP CS DKR NS
