Nadda lays foundation stone for 3 medical colleges in J&K,

Jammu and Kashmir will soon get two cancer hospitals, Union Health Minister J P Nadda said today as he laid foundation stones for three medical colleges in the state.
Each of the three medical colleges -- in Anantnag district and Baramulla district of Kashmir Valley and one in Rajouri district of Jammu -- will be built at a cost of Rs 189 crore.
"The union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the upgradation and modernisation of health care institutions in Jammu and Kashmir and in this connection, the state will soon have two cancer hospitals," Nadda said while speaking after laying the foundation stone of Government Medical College in frontier Rajouri district of the Jammu region.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh along with several ministers from the state were also present on the occasion. The medical college in Rajouri will have 100 MBBS seats and a hospital with the capacity of 300 beds. In her address, Mehbooba said, "We are grateful to the central government for its assistance for improving the healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir." She said her government, with the help of the Centre, was committed to provide quality healthcare to the people of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra Singh said with the BJP-led NDA rule in the centre, a new era of development has been initiated in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Jammu and Kashmir has started witnessing a new era of development under the BJP-led NDA government in the centre", he said.
