In a move towards strengthening its stand for the 2018 Assembly elections, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), under the leadership of Kewekhape Therie, is coming up with a Road Map for Nagaland towards overcoming political, economical and social issues of the state.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the executive council of NPCC yesterday, said NPCC president K Therie while addressing a press conference today.
"We understand at this moment in Nagaland, Congress needs to provide an alternative ground for the people in the form of a road map," he said adding the draft of the road map would be finalised within a week.
"We are also concerned in the manner NPF is leaning towards communal forces and also the huge deficit of the NPF-led DAN government, which will cross over Rs 2,300 crore, including the civil deposit and the diversion of funds from CSS," he said.
The Congress also expressed serious concern on the removal of special category status from Nagaland, while expressing fear that with this, the state government would be unable to pay its matching share for all CSS at 50 per cent.
Therie said the NPCC was emphasising on electoral reforms as more than 30 per cent of the electoral roll in the state contains bogus voters.
"We will see that the one man one vote policy is enforced in the state, as clean election has been the dream of the church organisations in the state," he said.
Meanwhile, on the Naga political issue, the Congress has decided to play the role of a 'Mediator' once it was given the mandate by the people of the state.
"We believe honourable and acceptable solution can come only when the state government plays a mediator's role," he said.
