Hailing India's decision regarding the UNHRC resolution as a "diplomatic move", Natchiappan, in a statement here said, "If India would have supported the resolution, it may have paved the way for the Chinese to carry out rehabilitation works in Tamil-dominated areas, which are hitherto done by India.
He further added that the decision to abstain from UNHRC resolution would help to improve the livelihood of the Lankan Tamils in the island nation as well as the migrants.
New Delhi's decision to abstain from voting in United Nations Human Rights Council has drawn all-round flak from political parties and outfits in Tamil Nadu with Chidambaram himself admitting that India should have supported the US-backed move, albeit a 'watered down one.
