NC MLA moves privilege motion against J-K CM

Opposition National Conference legislator Altaf Ahmad Wani today said he has moved a privilege motion against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for allegedly ignoring him during his day-long tour of his Pahalagam constituency.
"I have moved a privilege motion with a request to the Speaker (of the Legislative Assembly) to initiate breach of privilege proceedings against Sayeed, his cabinet colleagues who were accompanying him and the senior officials of district administration Anantnag for sidelining me during an official tour of my constituency yesterday," Wani told reporters here.
The Pahalagam legislator, who was flanked by several National Conference leaders including party spokesman Junaid Azam Matoo, said, it was "unfortunate" that the chief minister was on official tour for full day in the hill town but he was "not invited" to the function.

"The authorities were duty-bound as per the mandatory rules to invite me on this special occasion being the constitutionally-elected representative of the said constituency (Pahalgam). Their willful conduct of denying me this constitutional right tantamount to breach of privilege of the institution of the honourable member," he said.
He also criticised the government for ignoring him during the last week's meeting chaired by Sayeed to review the master plan for Pahalgam.
Accusing the chief minister of engaging in "political vendetta", Wani said National Conference would wait and see how the Speaker responds to his privilege motion.

"It is not the democratic way of functioning. He is the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and not of the PDP," he said and questioned the presence of defeated PDP leader and former MLA Pahalgam in the function.

National Conference spokesman also criticised the Sayeed- led government for "ignoring the protocols and privileges" of the legislators from the opposition parties.
He also accused the government of registering false cases against the party activists and of harassment of those employees, who are related to the party workers.
